Let’s Play Doctor…
Well, since the gorgeous willowy sprite David Tennant is in his final year of playing The Doctor of Doctor Who, I thought I’d gush over him while I still had the chance. While Christopher Eccleston had really worked that leather jacket and tough guy stance, David Tennant sexed up the place with the tailored suits and lithe grace. I mean, just look at that little waist…
But the beauty of it is, while David Tennant can work the doe-eyed goofy smile and wonderment over even the most dangerous of creatures/scenarios, he is also able to deliver serious and believable acts of supreme intellect and cunning and sometimes downright venom. There’s always that moment with the Doctor’s companions when they realize they’re not just dealing with a nutty time-traveling professor–this dude has power and isn’t afraid to use it in what manner he sees fit.
One of my favorite David Tennant Doctor Who episodes still has to be “The Girl in the Fireplace”, with the uber gorgeous Sophia Myles (she of the lamentably short-lived TV vampire series Moonlight, as well as the film Tristan + Isolde). We get to see the Doctor actually smitten with the beautiful 18th century King’s consort Madame De Pompadour (Myles), and the scenes between them are filled with sensuality, humor, and of course–an underlying melancholy.
We viewers are treated to adorable smiles,
Passionate kisses,
Post-kissing stupor,
And handporn.
Yes, I have a thing for hands, particularly when there are long, graceful, slender fingers involved. This is usually where I start gibbering over Sean Bean, but I’ll restrain myself. Maybe we’ll talk about David Tennant’s freckles instead. Or his elegantly long nose. Or dark eyelashes. Or tousled hair…
He also scores a million points for looking just as hot in glasses.
He always plays with the glasses in the scenes, too, slipping them on to squint at and examine something of interest, and then whipping them off again to make some grand announcement. Like I said, David Tennant is just a joy to watch, with big goofy bright-eyed fun, brooding intellect, terrifying strength, and deep-hearted love. I’m going to miss him desperately. It would be nice if the new Doctor might cross paths with the old one occasionally…it seems it’d be bound to happen with an immortal time lord…
David Tennant Screencaps:
Doctor Who, “Smith and Jones”, c2007 BBC.
Doctor Who, “The Girl in the Fireplace”, c2006 BBC.

I must admit that my crush on Christopher Eccleston was so intense that I could not bear to watch anyone else as the Doctor.
However, I must admit that the kissing screencap has me wondering if I may be somewhat precipitous in my thinking.
I know, I think I’ve tried to convince you before about the wonders of David Tennant…hee! I loved Christopher Eccleston in the role, too, and was so disappointed when he only did one season. But then David won me over.
The Christmas episode when he first stars is reallly good, but you could also just skip to The Girl in the Fireplace and see how you like him. He’s adorable in it, and sexy, and kind of vulnerable. Which we don’t get to see too much with the Doctor.
I grew up with Dr Who and the Daleks..I used to have crappy dreams now my nieces like me to play exterminator with them, that’s me chasing them around the house like a dalek..
When I was a kid, my brother had a friend that was *totally* into it and we just didn’t get it at all. Now I realize what I was missing…heh… That’s so funny about your nieces. When mine get a bit older, maybe I can play the Dalek game with them too…
your blog is looking (nearly) as good as the men on it! fyi, i had no problem with things loading up quickly.
Thank you so much, Stormy!
The boys do help spruce up the place, don’t they? *G* Thanks for letting me know that things loaded up well for you–I’m glad! Luna was saying she had trouble with the vids, which I know sometimes take ages. –Shriney
