Ryan Phillippe gets around. That is, in the movie Gosford Park, his character Henry Denton gets around. He’s upstairs, he’s downstairs, he flirts with girls and boys and a questionable Scottish accent. (Of course it’s supposed to be questionable, but I won’t give that bit away in case you haven’t seen the film.) The strange rules and politics of the servant class versus the rich plays out in rich detail in Gosford Park, and Ryan Phillippe sidles through it as the pouty lipped, vain, lecherous Henry Denton–to delicious effect.

In a continuing Clive Owen theme, I thought I’d give you some screencaps tonight of Clive in Gosford Park. Clive does the whole tall, dark, mysterious stranger bit so well, and that was beautifully evident in the award-winning Gosford Park. He’s able to do so much with so few words, just with subtle shifts of his eyes and the corner of his lips.

I could do an entire week on Gosford Park; it’s full of amazing actors like Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith, Richard E. Grant, Ryan Philippe, Kristin Scott Thomas, Emily Watson, Tom Hollander, Stephen Fry, and Derek Jacobi. Ryan Philippe is particularly cheeky and sexy, making his way from room to room in the elegant house. Who knew that “I’ve got a date with a glass of hot milk,” could be so provocative a statement.
